Research Policy

The consolidated research activities and development activities conducted by the College focus on three areas:

  • Production and environmental systems for sustainable agriculture;
  • Quality and diversity of food products in relation to their origin;
  • Development of rural areas and diversification of activity.

The research undertaken at Enita focuses particularly on farming in upland areas, and its upstream and downstream activities.
These research activities fit well into the stated fields of excellence for the Auvergne Region and the Massif Central: Food Quality, Management of Sensitive Rural Areas. The College participates in the regional scientific groups: Cheese AOC, Meat and Meat Products, Organic Farming, Sensitive Rural Areas.
Enita Clermont works closely with INRA, Cemagref, the Universities and the other Grandes Ecoles on a regional and national scale. It is also assisting with the creation of the European Research Centre.
Its research activities benefit from these active national and European partnerships, as well as from the expert activities developed by the research lecturers at the regional centres of AFSSA, DATAR or INAO, the European Commission, the International Dairy Federation or the FAO.

Research Complementarity in Higher Education

The disciplines which constitute the specialisms of each of our College research lecturers are complementary. This allows research to be conducted alongside the professional engineering training.
The experimental and applied research activities at Enita Clermont help to formalise skills and knowledge which is both scientific and practical. The constant dialogue with professionals permits a very early awareness of their likely requirements in agronomic, technological or socio-economic fields.
The teaching - research link facilitates the transfer of the results to the benefit of farming businesses, small to medium sized agri-food companies and local authorities in rural areas. To this end, Enita Clermont ensures the publication of its research findings and its research teams organise or participate in conferences and seminars attended by researchers as well as professionals.
